Back After a Sabbatical of Sorts

I haven't posted in this blog for about eight years...  A long sabbatical if you will...  Actually, I was very disillusioned with the direction of things in Honduras.  In O'Henry's 1904 book, 'Cabbages and Kings', he coined the term 'Banana Republic' in describing Anchuria.  Anchuria is the name of his fictionized Honduras, but unfortunately, the label 'Banana Republic' still applies...  Some things just don't change.

Even worse, other descriptive labels are also relevant:  'failed state', 'insecurity', 'systematic and institutionalized corruption', 'authoritarian', and 'narco-state'.  These are just a few terms that come to mind, but the list could go on...

Regardless, I have come to terms with what is and what isn't.  So I prefer to just move on and accept Honduras for what it is... The good, the bad, and the ugly.   There is no reason to live with disillusion on a permanent basis...

So for now, I plan to focus on what my blog was originally intended to discuss:  Honduras Living
