A sign of the times

One day this week, my family and I were driving on the 'anillo periferico' in Tegucigalpa.  We passed a motorcycle with two men on it.  My wife immediately cried out, "Did you see that?  The man in the back is carrying a pistol..."  For the benefit of full disclosure, I must admit that I did not see the gun as my attention was somewhere else.  She went on, "They're looking for someone to mug...He just has the gun in his hand with his arm down by his side."

I replied, "Well, how come he doesn't at least hide it?"

My wife continued, "He has to be ready when the opportunity arises..."

Well, I guess this was just another typical day in the city, and a sign of the times in Honduras...

So very true. Some friends of mine, just 2 poor pastors, were mugged this week. I don't know if they had anything worth taking but I am glad they were spared their lives.

I am considering coming to teach in the rural town of Santa Rosa de Copánin in the mountains of honduras... you're scaring me. I am 48, single, female. I would like your opinion as to whether this is a prudent idea or to continue looking for a job. It is a Christian school and I would like to contribute to the education of those less fortunate then myself but would not like to give me life for this.

Anonymous, The rural areas tend to be much safer than the large cities.

This is ridiculous. I can't imagine that he can carry a gun in his hands. He don't think that someone might see him.
