That's some name for a new town

In 1578, the Spanish founded the city, La Real Villa de San Miguel de Heredia de Tegucigalpa.   Today the city is simply known as Tegucigalpa or 'Tegus'.

I prefer the modern name...

Why not Heredia? Why not San Miguel? I have a life long friend/like a brother named Miguel. I would love to live in Migtown. Tegucigalpa sounds like a place where Pepto Bismol is the real name. You know what I'm sayin?

Hi. I take advantage of this post to ask you some questions about Tegus. I am moving to live and work there for one year. I would like some information about the cost of living. How can you live there with 500 USD (rent excluded)? The more information you can give me, the best it is of course... Thank you so much...Bye from Italy

Michela,

I think it will be hard to live on $500 per month excluding rent. The national currency is way overvalued so the cost of living has increased considerably over the years. I find going out to dinner at a decent restaurant, cost about the same as in the USA. Labor is cheap, so you can have a full time maid for about $275.00 per month. All imported items tend to cost more than in the USA, so my wife does the bulk of her shopping when she visits the USA.
